Subaru still supply one too ... the serial number should be lurking on one of the threads if you do a search.

I use the perrin 3 port solenoid on mine. Like the others say subaru will sell one but think it is more expensive. I believe they are off the wr1

What's the advantage (if any) of a 3 port over a 2 port, if for example, you have a 2.5, 321T+ and SimTek?

3 port over 2 port, i think the 3 port holds boost better, or you can use with higher boost.

IIRC the 3 port allows finer and faster control of the wastegate and therefore boost.

I think this may be what I need then, as it'll hold 1.8-1.9 (as recorded on a Defi gauge) on a 2 port in 1st to 4th but under sudden WOT load in 5th and 6th it blasts past that to boost cut. Pat's having another go at mapping it on Wednesday, so we'll see...

I'm letting the experts sort it all out, just wanted to put the question to the group to see what the consensus was.

sorry to bring this back from the dead.

i have an issue at the moment and think it maybe my boost solinoid. when on boost in 4th 5th i get up to 1.2 and it flutters up and down up and down really quiickly but still boosting. now i did have an issue with it over boosting and i changed the pill for a different one and this seemed to work. on sunday i had a pipe pop off the intercooler. i fixed this and since then i am getting over boost and fuel cut. have tried a different pill. even a manual boost controller but still over boosting.

v3sti
mods

vf35
dp decat
fmic
blitz filter
turbo intake pipe
no recir or dv

now the car aint mapped but i have had it logged and everything is running fine. only thing was my maf was reading low on idle but fine otherwise.

(summary, fitted fmic had problem, changed pill then fine, pipe pop off and now problem constantly all the time no matter what i do)

no vac leaks and all lines are clean.

Cheap as chips.

I don't think your problem is the boost solenoid valve but if you get the car mapped I am sure your mapper will ID and rectify the fault.
The car needs mapped if you have fitted an FMIC.

Digging the thread out - could anyone explain me, please, what's exactly the difference between various 3port boost solenoids?
Let's say Perrin and Subaru/Denso one (the one from older classics). Or for example HDi?

What are advantages of one over another, or disadvantages - please?
Of course if there are any.

thanks

Does no answers mean no differencies?

You can use a Subaru item. Not sure on price but you can find out from the Subaru dealer nearest you. Secondhand ones on here from time to time for £40/£45. I supply new for £65. I have not used the Perrin which is more expensive so I have no idea how that works.
I would be very surprised if there was a difference in performance that you could detect. All the solenoid valve does is open and close and with a three port, release air.
Lots of Subaru owners and mappers have my three ports.

what is logged ? your running mods and no remap ? i ve replaced inter-cooler , turbo , injectors , fuel pump hp welborg , got ss headers resonator cut , full decat but still has a box to create a bit back pressure , had full rebuild v8 crank , run it in on mineral oil , boost seliod pipes off , as soon as it was run in , i was on phone for remap and run it on 10/60 as i drive it hard , you must be mad not to remap after all you have done . Karen front mount take longer to spool unless you run mass power . my car is wrx bug eye, got 3 port boost as it dose a way with the restrictive grommet . good look
