Hi All,

Hope you can help my panic because my MY05 has developed a very slight oil leak it would appear from the plug that is above piston 3.

I had the plug out about 2-3 months ago because i was going to fit an oil pressure sensor there, however the unit i bought didnt have the adaptor and i had to put the plug back in.

I did tighten it, and checked it periodically for about a month after and it wasnt leaking... however i have just checked it tonight and their is splashes of oil around it where its clearly blowing out.

Checked the oil levels and they are normal so it cant be alot, could it have damaged the engine at all with it blowing (and i guess losing pressure a little) around it?

Please put me out of my panic (hopefully!!)

 

You sure it's not a weeping rocker cover gasket? Quite a common problem, especially on the driver's side one.

 

not a problem and providing theres plenty of oil in the engine it wont have done any harm. remove the plug again and wrap the thread with some ptfe tape and then refit it, leak will be gone.
