Petrol smell on start up?
Any help welcome
On start up from a cold engine im getting a petrol smell inside, which goes once she's warmed up? no sure what it could be, although it is becoming a good excuse to get a new turbo back de-cat exhaust lol

Fuel doesn't mix very well cold air so the ECU has to pump in a lot more fuel when the engine is cold to maintain the correct air fuel ratio.
This is probably the reason for the smell. Mine does the exact same thing.

Do you have a bugeye? There was a service bulletin on those in 2003 about the 2002 model WRX and a fuel smell in cold weather. It comes from the inside of the two rubber hoses connecting the fuel lines together under the manifold on the driver's side.
The ref number is 09-36-03. Affecting engine numbers before 673467.
