Default ignition cut around 4000 rpm with PFC

hello,

I have been driving my STI type R v5 with pleasure for on year and a half, but htis week end, on an acceleration, the engine had fuel or ignition cut just before 4000 rpm. I did drive slower, then tried to floor it again, and same thing has occured.

first question, does Power FC has fuel or ignition cut for any reason ? I don't get any warning signal (engine check light)

if the boost would go .2 bar over what it is supposed to be, would ecu cut ignition/fueling ? I'm asking that cause when I did check the boost guage, it seems it was slightly boosting over just before the cut, but I'm not to shure...

any help welcome

thanks

I have an apexi power FC, not sure it send error codes through any connector
I don't get any engine check light signal. which I beleive (or at least thought) PFC use to tell any prob

You can't join the connectors under the dash for error codes when running a Power FC.

If you have the hand commander, you can look under the "etc" menu at Sensors/Switches. - If any of the monitored sensor voltages are out of the expected range, they will be highlighted in black. (the EML may/may not also be permenantly on)

The Power FC will fuel cut at 0.25 Bar over the set boost level. - What is your boost level setpoint, and what boost are you actually getting? - This may well be the cause of your problem.

HTH

thanks, I'll check commander tomorrow. I strongly think it is over boosting.
well when it did occure I had boost set up at .85 and it seems it was cuting at 1 bar. I lowered the boost to .65 and then it cuts around .85
so I beleive it has to do something with boost.
I've check solenoid, actuator lines, it seemed ok thought.
I'll have an other look tomorrow

I have 4 boost settings that I mapped in 2007 : 0.65, 0.85, 1.05, 1.25
as you can see, I'm not greedy

the boost cut is 0.2bar above the target boost so either increase the target or lower the duty so it doesn't make so much boost

thanks simon,

it has been working fine for over a year thought. so I would beleive it has to come from actuator lines or faulty solenoid.

check all the lines for splits, and clean the solenoid out with brake cleaner.

check the actuator crack pressure with a mityvac or similar.

after last check, I found out that lines going to actuator had a plit. so I have changed it. now I'm very surprised as boost is now stuck at 0.65 kg/cm2 which I know is actuator standard pressure. I guess I have ot look for the solenoid that must had a problem at the same time. quite strange all this prob at once

You sure you have piped it up right?

are you on a 2port or 3port solenoid?

If 2port have you put restrictor in new pipework?

I have no idea. I guess it is 2 port.
It is standard solenoid that comes on STI type R v5

I have only changed lines that goes for compressor housing to T pieces, then from T pieces to actuator. lines that goes from T pieces to solenoid is still the same. where does restrictor is supposed to be ? don't tell me it goes in line between T pieces and actuator as I through that one in the bin

no problem it is what this place is all about.

alternative is to fit a 3port boost solenoid

I remember you did mention about them a year ago. better to handle higher boost.
would they be direct fit to harness ? does PFC would be straight compatible ?
