Default What turbo is in a MY97 Turbo 2000?

Sorry, me again.

Just wondering what turbo will be in my Impreza. It`s a MY97 Turbo 2000 and still has the original turbo, so I`ve been told.

Also, what other models could I replace it with, without going down the forged engine rebuild route. Just looking to reach a safe 320bhp for now, whilst the rest of the car is sorted out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have a TD04 turbo.
If you want 320 you will need a new ecu as the one you have cannot be mapped, so your looking at around 14-1500 quid for that, a bigger turbo (td05 16g) and as the 440's are fairly cheap, you may as well upgrade those also.

Or you could fit one of the vf series turbos (34/35 ) and as for your ecu you can fit the esl daughter board which i think is 550 quid fitted and custom mapped (good bargain)

not sure you can ESL a 97, I thought that was 93-96.
You might be able to get a scoobyECU for those mods but again, I'm not sure.
You have a td04.

For 320 I would fit:

440 injectors (if yours are 380s) £75
walbro pump £80
SX regulator £130
Dawes Device £35
Green cotton panel filter £40
Apexi PowerFC and commander or Simtek ecu £650 mapped
td05-16g or vf28 (I would go with the td05 all day long). £120
New clutch, exedy organic uprated or similar £300
start saving for a new box if you're going to use the loud pedal regularly! £2000

No ESL board (yet) or scoobyECU for the MY97 - I continue to wait in hope...
A Apexi Power Fc would be the recommended ECU if you are planning ~320bhp.

Your current turbo will run at 280bhp with a remap, you might want to consider decat and apexi powerfc or simtek etc as current power to 280 is a reasonable jump

Wasn`t expecting all that info. Appreciate that a lot.

So, once I`ve fitted all the parts I need, where`s the best place to go and get the new ecu and have it mapped ?
