Default burning smell

Wondered if anyone can point us in the right direction when my 94 wrx warms up i start getting a burning oil smell from the engine bay had a look round and cant see no immediate leaking and there is no patches underneath either even after ive left it standing for a week. This used to happen when i left it standing a few days but now seems to happen on regular use anyone got any ideas thanks.

its probably the offside rocker cover gasget leaking oil onto the up-pipe. Start it up and watch under the header tank area. every now and again you will probably see some smoke coming from that area as the oil drips onto the up-pipe

As above says almost positive it will be this very common the heat off the exhaust drys out the rocker cover gasket and it starts to drip every now and again , one small drip will stink for ages when it lands on the exhaust , i would describe it more of a weap than a drip , needs new rocker cover gasket , the two spark plug gaskets , the rocker cover half moon cam section/gasket as these thend to need replacing at the same time and the seals for the bolts make sure you get genuine parts not copy parts , clean everything up so it is oil free and use a smear of three bond high temp sealer on the gaskets ,and torque up to the correct settings .
