Hi
Recently have been getting the odd code 22 fault (knock sensor). It's mostly when cold and goes out after a few seconds but have finally got round to replaciing the sensor and now the cel is on all the time!
I looked up and found it's quite sensitive to being torqued to the right amount so made sure i did that (24nm) so am out of ideas at the minute.
Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas?
The car is a uk my99 with ecutek, decat, etc. The CEL first came on a few months ago after i did a track day, don't know if that's significant.
Cheers

I had this problem recently as i fitted a new one, i had to take it out again, and noticed a bit of crap on the block, so it did not have a proper connection the block, made sure the block was nice and clean reseated and no more cel
hope that helps, and yes i know not fun to mess with that sensor but it really needs to be seated properly or else it wont work and it will throw a cel

Tried refitting to no avail. I now get two fault codes! It's generating code 23 now as well (maf sensor). I put an old spare i had in but still get the code(s). Is the new code related or just a coincedence?
Anyone?

Just tried the maf stall test and it did so can i assume the maf's ok? This is the old/replacement maf by the way not the one that was in when the code 23 first came up. Hope that makes sense! Also get the two codes with this maf by the way.

hi
i had a kind of similar thing.... i kept getting a code 22 along with a bit of hesitation on boost and lack of power. I changed the MAF as i assumed it was actual det being picked up, reset the ECU and the CEL came back on just trundeling about off bost to let her warm up. the CEL went out once the car was warmed up and the power, etc was back to normal. I could not get rid of the CEL on start up so it stayed this way for months. I had it on the rolling road a couple of tims too and the guy listened for det and reported it fine, and the AFR and power was good too.
it just seemed to be a bit of a weird relic! is your car driving ok? does the CEL stay on all the time? I got another code 22 recently but this was on boost, i felt hesitation and the light flicked on then off, then on again when accelerating hard before finally staying on. So the pattern for a "genuine" problem is quite different.
bloody hell, i hope that made sense!

Thanks for the reply - i was beginning to think i was talking to myself!
Have got rid of the code23 (maf) by disconnecting the battery overnight but the code 22 remains. Am now going to refit the old knock sensor and see if it returns to flashing every now and again. It used to do it when cold and would go out after a while.
