Default Ethanol or methanol

I remember someone writing a thread about using one of these additives to raise the octane and prevent pinging, however I can't find any info on it anymore. Could one of you be kind enough to enlighten me again? What Spec is best for runnin this set up, my uk turbo 2000 is currently at 250brake however with the intended mods should see it over 300 soon.

Here you go,

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ioethanol.html

First and most important is you need to have your car mapped for this fuel.

If the car is mapped for methanol is it ok to switch to E85 without re-map or would it mean the engine would run leaner?

if mapped to say 10% methanol and then you put in 10% bioethanol instead it would run slightly richer - but that isnt the main issue, the ignition advance required 'may' alter.

I don't think it would be far out though.

edit to say - get your mapper to check it at least though.

Thanks for that Duncan,
I'm trying some NF at the moment so probably best to stick with the methanol for now.
cheers

Either change your turbo and get a remap or just get your car remapped. There is no way you need to be thinking of using methanol at the moment.
