Default Blobeye/hawkeye sti engine into bugeye WRX

Looking to get some more power for the bug, so was thinking of an STi engine from blobeye or hawkeye sti. (can get these fairly cheaply and reliable)
Not to fussed about the avcs working so i guess it should be a plug and play using the wrx ecu (already mapped by Andy F) and the car remapped to suit the biggerturbo and injectors?

Did read something about the cam sensor being different, can anyone confirm?

Thanks all info would be great.

Thanks

S!

I think you just use sti bottom end with your own heads, else you need to change loom and ecu.

Thanks daz,

Can you not use the sti heads and just not use the avcs wiring? and plug into the WRX ecu with an andy f remap and get that tweaked?

for the cost, could you not look into rebuilding your extg motor for more grunt?

JD, the price of the STi engine I can get will be alot less than the rebuild, plus i'm not to fussed about going for 400 - 500 bhp.
Still considering a rebuild or a completely new engine
Thanks for the input tho.

the issue you'll have is getting round the drive by wire system. personaly i'd just geta build as sugested.

also no gaurenty that 3 miles down the road the second hand engine wont throw a rod through the block

the drive by wire is fitted to the hawkeye, not the blobeye.

if you can get an 03/04 sti uk spec, the pistons are forged.

i havn't done it myself, but a mate was on about putting some big power in hsi hawker, the drive by wire was causign major issues with it, not only with the fact no holes for cabling but also in the ecu. it might be a case of they (as in tuner sin general) have now got round it (was a while back) but i know it was a sticking point.

from what i understand the drive by wire system is a bit of a pain in itself and a bit laggy with its responce.

but as said this is going back a while and fix's might be out there
