In the next few months I will have the following on my car, and should be getting around 420-440bhp according to JGM.
3" Full de-catted Stainless Exhaust, including up and down pipe
K&N Cold Air Intake
Walbro Fuel Pump
HKS Fuel Pressure Regulator
ECUTek Remap by Scoobyclinic
Dump Valve
Hybrid FMIC
750cc Injectors (flow matched)
Apexi AVCR
MD321T
Tubular Headers with matching up-pipe

opinion vary, i wouldn't go more than 400 without a rebuild with uprated internals, but there are some folks risking it, some get away with it, some don't

As above, there are some which have been o.k up to 500 but I think 400 is the safety limit after that you are on borrowed time, I have a piston with a broken ring land from an STI8 that was running 420bhp for 10000miles.

Not sure on the torque JP4. I'm expecting it well below 400 though
My next stage once I've around 420bhp is to go forged at the end of the year. But think it's safe risking it at 420.

there are other reasons a ringland could do that.. depending on how it was mapped the reaction to changes in fuel quality are setup etc.. were there any signs of det on the heads or top of the piston?
As a summer side project to my classic I am planning to run an sti03/04 on standard internals at different stages to see exactly how far it will go as I will have a built 2.5 bottom end sat waiting to go in it when it breaks current thoughts on a 400~450bhp turbo 1.7bar is fine as a peak.

Not saying all will do this but there are two different ends to the spectrum, and this Piston obviously fell at the lower end, the LH head did look slightly burned but no det to speak of on the piston.

This is a brief spec of my engine running at 420BHP
2.0ltr STI 8 SCOOBYCLINIC CONVERSION , SC46 TURBO & WASTEGATE ,550cc INJECTORS, FUEL LAB REG, GFB DUMP VALVE, AUTRONICS SM4 ECU, E-BOOST 2, GEN GT SPEC 2 HEAT WRAPPED HEADERS & TURBO UP PIPE, BALANCED EXEDY TWIN PLATE CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL, PPG STRAIGHT CUT QUICK SHIFT GEARBOX, FULL RCM EXHAUST SYSTEM, SCOOBYCLINIC DECAT DOWN PIPE , FMIC, ALLOY RAD, SCOOBYCLINIC OIL COOLER,
I would need bigger 740cc injectors & another map to reach 450hp and maybe another turbo cos i think id be maxing the SC46 at that power, would love the MD321T or the SC50

A bloody lot...
Seriously, what,s your aim with the car?? i.e road car, track, etc, or are you just number chasing?? i don,t mean that with any disrespect either, 400bhp makes a very nice responsive car, when going for 500 it,s a whole new ball game, trust me i,ve done it with a cossie and an Evo and spent ££££££££££££....

very interesting.. I am not aware of any doing this with upto 440bhp..

Completely agree Simon, I haven't seen a version 8 do that either and we run 4 at over 430bhp on stock internals. These carry out many duties including RYWB and track days and have been the same spec for getting on 2 years now.
Re your STi 8, go on put a V on it, I am curious to see what it will be like on a 2 litre and whether it will crack 500hp on pump fuel.

BTW.... give me one of your 2.0ltr standard engine builds running 450bhp on stock internals and I will bust it for you! Unless it has a powerband of 1k rpm and a rev limit of 7500rpm.

Why pick a number, I had a budget in my mind, and only missed by £1000, but did add the parallel fuel rail mod to the list.
I've crawled up past 340 bhp and at 43,000 miles my std clutch cried enough, changed on Monday to allow the JGM to do his laptop magic.

Well it hasn't cracked it on a built 2.5, so do you think it will do it on a standard 2ltr.
