Default Where Is My Air Con Under The Bonnett?

I'm completly new at all this scooby stuff, so please forgive me

Does anyone have any photo's of their engine bays with air con? I dont know what it looks like and i need to check it's got it before I phone someone to get it re-gassed! It's never worked when I have pressed the button inside so either it's empty or it's not there at all!

Thanks

Just pressing the button won't make it work.

Turn the heater dial to cold, switch the fan on then press the button (it should have a little light on)

Yeah, as above. BTW, button is off when lit green; on when lit orange.

Unless, as you say, it's been totally disconnected, then get a mobile aircon specialist out. Will cost you a £30-40 callout charge for them to check all pipes for leaks and whether compressor needs replacing. If all okay, then just a regas is needed. Don't know where the cannister is, but they normally have a little inspection window at the top. If there are lots of little bubbles, or none at all, then it needs regassing - about £70+ I thnk (instead of the £30-40 calll-out). If there's just one or two bigger bubbles, then it's normally okay (I think that's the right way round).

Got a guy coming tomorrow to have a look! I hope it just needs re-gassing, because he said something about there are 2 types of gas. And only one he can fix, otherwise i'll have to have it converted which is expensive he said. Knowing the luck i get with this car it is going to be the old one he cant do!

i think the 2 types are CFC12 (not ozone friendly) or HFC134a (ozone friendly).
If it has to be converted you may as well get rid of it
