Default question for mappers about petrol

Hi all

Just got the old girl fitted with 440's, a brand new VF34 , NGK 7rs and a full remap of my existing dastek unichip.
The car was a 380cc injector,tdo4 equiped classic with a walboro Fp and an aeromotive FPR. It had 258bhp an 260lbs then after the above was fitted I only gained 10lbs of torque and power went up to 289bhp.
The powers made a big difference but I was hoping for 300bhp plus and cars of similar specs seem to do that and more.......
I usually use BP ultimate because their garages are nearest to me.
If I switched to Optimax without a remap would it improve matters ie give more power?
The mechanic told me that my standard top mount was a limiting factor but I thought these were good for 300bhp plus?

Take the Unichip off, throw it as far away from the car as you can and fit a SimTek or similar, job done. Stock topmount should be good for 320bhp and I have ran quite a few with similar mods at that level.

don't religeously go by dyno figures - they vary

and putting v-power in your car will not improve performance, but it will give you a better resistance to knock.

to see any gains from running v-power you will need to map to it.

I know what you were trying to say but if you had vpower in when mapping as opposed to bp ultimate you would have got more ignition advance in there as a result and would have resulted in more power - possibly over the 300 mark.

Scoobies dont like BP IMO.

Get some proper fuel in it

Cheers tidgy

Hows the clutch at that power

Im still running the standard top mount interwarmer! an the garage said it was now the limiting factor.
Also ive got a 100cell cat in the down pipe an not a full decat (got spanked by the feds years ago for running a clio williams with no cats)

Ive half a mind to get it mapped on optimax as I was well sad I didnt get the old girl over 300 brake.

Thats an idea get a FMIC, ported headers an uppipe remap.......a letter from the bank manager signed in red ink saying "see me" a slap from the misses ahhhhhhhhh the world of tuning

um, the origional one or the uprated one? lol

i killed the box on the isle of man so uprated it and chucked this in

ppg straight cut box

at the sort of level i am your gonna be pushing the standard box, let alone the clutch, stay below 330 to be on the safe side, but even at that launch it hard and it might be all it takes, as standard the classic box's, uk, wrx and sti are pretty weak.

i didn't bother having the headers ported or wraped, prob could have done but decided not to bother.
