Hello there,
I am new to the site and as yet do not own a scooby. I am however looking to buy one very soon with view to build a rally/track day car.
Would like a classic with solid bodywork, in fairly good nick. Have noticed that autos are much cheaper than manuals and am happy to do the conversion myself given the money I could save. Also autos generally tend to have fewer miles on.
Talking to rally buddies it seems that if i buy a manual classic it is likely that 2nd gear will be shot so i should expect to change the box anyway if driving in anger. I have also been told that the later 6 speed box is stronger due to the gearing.
Has anybody done this? if so how hard was it and do you have any tips??
Thanks
Jden
