impreza turbo

My speedo is not working correctly on my 98 impreza turbo. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesnt move at all and other times it says i am doin about 80mph when am only doing about 30mph.

has anybody any ideas what it could be or how to fix it??

I got stopped by the police last nite. apparently doing 37 in a 30 zone. luckily just got a warning!

any body any idea what how to fix the speedo??

You may need to check the speed sensors (think you may have 2, 1 on the gearbox and 1 in the back of the speedo head but not sure)

doesnt really help you at 30mph
but in mine (1997 sti V3) in 5th gear double the revs to get the speed
ie 3000rpm = 60 mph
