Lightweight crank pulley, possible issues..?
Had a Perrin lightweight crank pulley fitted this week and it seems fine, hard to say if there's any difference in performance, but engine does rev and fall quicker.
Now I bought this last year when the £/$ rate was good and after doing a little research into the implications of removing the OE 'harmonic balancer' pulley. The general consensus was there's no harm.
Now, after fitting it I see that some members of NASIOC are saying the OE balancer is a vital part of the crank, preventing potentially damaging harmonic resonance..?!
So, I'd like to know how many of you have lightweight crank pulleys, for how long and if there's anyone who's had a crank/big end failure who was running a lightweight crank pulley before hand..?
All the main Subaru specialist seem to supply/fit them, but I'd like to hear from owners, especially if you've had bottom end problems..

I have run lightweight pulleys, underdriven on a particular Subaru since 2000.
I have fitted so many sets of lightweight pulleys, sometimes underdriven that I have lost count. I have no knowledge of any problems with any pulleys I have fitted.
I know of a few people who bought cheap rubbish on e-bay who had issues because of poor machining but I can see no reason why there should be any problems if the pulleys are accurately machined.
