Default re map or chip on V3 sti ra

Right, i have posted a wanted add up on here see link:

https://www.scoobynet.com/wanted-18/...whole-ecu.html..

My question is, what is the easyest and cheepest was to make the most out of the mods I have. The car is the dredded 3pin 1997 ECU...
Do I go for a chip, a re-flash, piggyback ecu or what and where do I go for it? £££ being very important at the mo

"Chips" for this year require an expensive carrier board inside the ECU, so expensive in fact that the overall cost was similar to replacing the ECU with one of the budget after market ECUs. If you can find a previously enjoyed 3 plug standard ECU with such a board in for a sensible amount of money then that would probably be the cheapest option (they don't tend to fetch big money because there are only a handful of places that can map them).

Next option is a used PowerFC, this will be more expensive since it's a more desirable item. It will retain the MAF sensor but is fully mappable and as a bonus you get the FC Commander (if it's being sold with the ECU) which lets you keep an eye on things.

There are other, more expensive, options but these two are gonna be the most cost effective.... you cannot re-flash your generation of ECU, so that's not an option, and piggy backs are of limited use.

Hope this helps,

Pat.

there aren't really any chips available for it..

replacement ecu and remap required.

Question

Isn't ESL currently beavering away on the remappable daughterboard - plus MAFless too! - for the MY97/98 cars?

If so, anyone know when it's likely ot be commercially available?

not heard anything on the daughter board for V3 yet, think its new aftermarket ecu time for you Coop

the ebay link is for a V1/2 ecu which ist he 4 plug type and not the same as the later 3 plug V3/4 so no use i am afraid
