i have topped mine up twice in about 2.5 yrs with no probs and its only been a small amount.

Sorry OP. I immediately assumed you were talking about the header tank on the IM ![Cuckoo](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cuckoo.gif)
If you go to look at it again, get the seller to mtop up the header to just below the level of the neck (if required). Also top the expansion bottle up to the max mark.
Take it out for an extensive drive using plenty of boost and watch the temp gauge. Put the heater on full with fans on - is it blasting really hot air (once upto temp obviously). Does it maiantain the heat or goes away/comes back, etc,.? Make sure the gauge does't start to rise from the normal centre postion. When you park up, check the exapnsion bottle hasn't overflowed and the battery tray isn't wet wtc. Also check that the coolant isn't bubbling away rapidly in the exapnasion bottle....
