Exclamation simtek

Just fault checked my car and its flaggd up code 23 (maf) sooo these are my options.. simtek asap or new maf.. ive got the money for the simtek so i think thats the way to go.. however i wasnt planning on changing to simtek until later on in the year when i had more modifications to go with it.
Currently the car has got full exhaust system, decat'd dp.. center sports cat.
Now im thinking of ordering a fuel pump for the map and a filter as the maf is going!
Is this going to be enough?? i wanted to go front mount but havent really got the money atm..
What air filter would you recomend??
What tuning company to go with?? im tempted to go with api as i have spoken to them afew times and they seem very friendly and ive heard only good things! But im now worried to drive the car about incase it dies

Any advice, recomendations ect will be good!! cheers boys

if money is tight then another maf for time being
but as you said you had the money then simtek would be good idea, only problem i see is ending up paying twice for remap when you fit a fmic at a later date.

if it was me i would get a second hand maf to tide me over until i had all the parts together and then go for the simtek

Get a maf - drive of boost till then to prevent a big bill! Save up for the other parts then Simtek the lot in one go; saves two mapping fees. May be wise to invest in some knock detection until then given you appear to be running a classic STi with a decat without ECU reprogramming, which can be problematical. Definitely only use 99RON petrol e.g. V power or Tesco 99. You want all the Det resistance you can get!

Have a word with David at APi for no BS advice.

Also is it worth me going for a walbro or this fuel pump Subaru STI WRX 255 LPH fuel pump - rated to 585BHP on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 28-Mar-09 23:16:11 GMT)
are these just as good.. i dont mind just buying a walbro.. just if it saves afew pounds lol

Those fuel pumps are good, iirc a guy off here used to sell them, no noise whatsoever as they use better bearings than the walbro pumps iirc.

Intercooler wise hybrid are good and the filter is a good choice, it's what i use.

Power wise, depends on your injectors, i know 440's top out around 350hp which is why i had 550's fitted so id suggest a new set of those fitted as well.
