Fuel Starvation?
I got a 99 type r took it out today for drive but when i hit around 4500-5000 rpm car seemed to hold back on me for a split second and then pull away again feeling a bit jerky though and no CEL has come on!
Could this be a fuel problem or just desperately need a re-map as not had 1 since importing ,the car is pretty standard apart from the following
Walbro fuel pump
Pipercross foam panel filter
Fujitsubo cat back exhaust
Someone please help

Hi, was the engine still cold with or maybe intake temp cold? If so the car may have just overboosted and then pulled it back to stop turbo failure. Or possibly a plug lead on way out.

Straight to the point i Guess?? No unless there is an open/short circuit to the air mass metre then no trouble codes or eng light, as long as the ecu see's a reading then it isn't bothered no matter if it is miles out. try a set of plugs first and whilst the leads are off give em a quick wd40 on the contacts and coil.

I got a new MAF sensor i bought off e-bay last week i will try tomorrow ,i bought it as a spare because i heard how prone the 99 maf sensor was at f@cking up got it cheap still in package £30 !
Hopefully that will solve it then if not have to try plugs.

Was you cornering? How much fuel in the tank? What fuel?
First two questions relate to fuel surge, when you have less than a quarter in the tank, and do hard cornering. The last one because you said it has not been mapped since importing. So should run on 100+ octane fuel.

I was going in a straight line down dual carriagway using v-power and about half a tank of petrol .
Took it out day before and all seemed fine with it probably the misses confused the ecu where she drives it so slow and when i get in open it up a bit,ecu probably not know whether it supposed to be revving high or stay at 4000 rpm!
