currently gettin some work done to my car and while it was in wondered if a should up the ante a bit.
i am currently around 300bhp with td04 and andy F map with supporting mods. filter, fuel pump full de-cat system etc.
i was wanting to break 300 bhp so was looking at a new turbo and obviously injectors. dnt want to comprimise the transmisions so dnt want to go too crazy.
is buying a front entry td05 20g (will this fit?) overkill or is it a good base.
i'd obviously need an STI TMIC and 550cc injectors at least.
i am aiming for mid 300's maybe 340?? am i going in the right direction or does none of this make sense lol
cheers in advance

surely it will only chew it if the map allows it to boost that high into shredding bhp/torque figures, if the guy can get a cheap 20g then would it not make sense to buy it for future mods if required.
only asking for my own reasons/info

yeah wasnt sure if the 20g would be too much, whether it be lag or its demands on other parts of the engine.
on jasons point though, surely if the map is done correctly then it should run ok?
though i think somewhere inside i kinda knew i'd be better with an 18g

Ideally you should go with a turbo that's rated to your desired output, so it's working in it's most efficient zone.
Fitting a 20g and mapping it 'down' will only result in a turbo that's not working efficiently, ie laggy and held back in it's strongest zone, iyswim..?
Fit a turbo that's rated peak is what you're chasing. Therefore, for 350 a VF34/35 or even a TD05 16G would be ideal. IMHO anything bigger on a 2.0 with 'long' 5sp uk gear ratio's isn't going to be nice to drive in the real world (ie fast road)..! You'll have a gaping performance hole around 30mph where 1st is unpractical, yet 2nd is too long, ie off boost..!![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
A FAST spooling 330 ish bhp is a very effective fast road car..

No the TD05 16G originally fitted to early classic's, saloons only iirc.
VF34/35's were fitted to newage 2.0 STI's depending on model year, some had 35's (ie WR1) most had 34's.
All MY newage WRX's (even 2.5's) come fitted with TD04's. All are interchangeable/same fitting. The only exception is newage JDM cars which have a twin scroll turbo/maifold etc, which uses different bolt face's.
I take it you have a newage WRX..?
