Default Dishwasher

Has anyone put oily parts in their (or the wifes) dishwasher with and detrimental effects?
I was thinking of putting the cam covers for mine in for a bit of a clean but don't want to fubar the dishwasher either

It'll be fine just make sure the salt / rinse aid are topped up and use a good quality finish tablet on the 90 degree intensive cycle if you have one.

You sound like you actually know how to operate a dishwasher!... or - more disturbingly - even care.

Its works perfectly, we did a full engine at my mates house, both halves of the block and both cylinder heads obviously not all at once.

No ill effects on the dishwasher, just put it on again empty and all is fine.

Not much will clean it better IMHO, loads better than the so-called proper parts washers at work.

We only got caught doing the last cylinder head. LOL
