My 97 uk scoob needs an oil change and i want to do it myself. This will be the first for me as i have just got the car.Is it fairly easy to do and what oil should i put in?The car is on 106,000 with a dealer history up to around 93,000.Im asking this because i obviously want to keep my scoob in top condition!thanks

If you want to keep the car in the best possible condition then a good speciallist or dealer with the correct facilities to do the work is your best option
I doubt you could see everything you need to, or check everything you have to on the drive at home
The oil will be a 10w40 semi synthetic, shell are the recommened oil by subaru, doesnt say you have to use that though (and oil changes are every 7.5k, also when was the cambelt done? diff oil and gearbox oil changes every 2 years.)

How To: Engine Oil Change 04 STi - IWSTI.com: Subaru WRX STI Forums

The write up is for a newer model, but its till the same way for yours. You can do an oil change in around 30mins, first time a bit longer. Its just a matter of knowing where everything is for the first time.

For workshop manuals : https://www.scoobynet.com/technical-...w-updated.html

If your not sure of something, just ask. There is always help at hand. Also you can always take a look over here to pickup some tips. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/modifications-f47.html

Its a 97 car which means its due its cambelt (12 years old) plus its the BIG service at this mileage, so honestly, you either need to do some ot or you wont be on top of the servicing (especially if a cambelt lets go, 2.5-3k for an engine rebuild v 600 quid service)
