Default Running an engine in a kit car

I'm going to be building a kit car for a mate shortly and thought I'd asked for advice from people who have more knowledge than me!!!

I will be fitting a ford zetec or duratec engine with the ECU from the donor car (as a short term, cost saving measure), the engine will be from a car that would have had a factory fitted immobiliser installed. Does anyone know if I could run the engine with the original ECU or is the immobiliser built into it? Any info will be gratefully received, I understand if you don't want to post it in a public forum so could you PM me?

Thanks in advance, Rich.
