Guys, I've just bought another scooby as a project - Its a 94 WRX, but its had a full engine rebuild with forged rods etc....
Now ideally I'd like, if possible, to swap the 2 engines over - the forged one from the 94 WRX into my 97 WRX. How much of a problem, is any, is this going to be?? Also, as a rule of thumb, how much power can the standard WRX pistons take, as from what I understand, the engine, whilst rebuilt with carrillo rods, and new balanced crank, valves, rings etc... has standard WRX pistons
My current set up consists (or in the next few days will consist) of VF35, Ported and wrapped headers, Walbro 255, Apexi PFC, Apexi Induction kit, Decat downpipe and Nur Spec exhaust, Exedy Clutch and Lightened Flywheel, 550 Injectors - I'm looking to have it mapped for around 1.5 Bar - Is this realistic and can the WRX pistons take the strain - Safely??
Cheers
Mark

would be worth changing pistons whilst it is out..
engine will swap wityhout issue, the heads may actually be a backward step though as the 97 cams will be better

Indeed, ideally you want to keep the MY97 heads in the MY97 car. Of course, if you were to do that then its an ideal time to change pistons.

Apparently its got fast road cams in it - I'm not looking at going any further than 340-350BHP so I guess the question is, will this setup reliably take this power without having to strip it and rebuild with new pistons, as it was only rebuilt 90 Miles ago. Why the pistons weren't swapped at the time is beyond me??

That block runs 350bhp on its own mate
pistons weren't changed due to not wanting to push anymore power! Hope your enjoying
I'll try and find the Dyno run charts, pos lost in the move
