Default Screwing the Screw right in on DV?

My car seems to be running a tad rough. I have a VTA DV on which came with the car, but I've bought a OE Recirc which I tried fitting, but there was no way the black fat pipe would connect to it, so I'm going to have to wait until I put my FMIC on in a month or so.

In the mean time, can I screw the screw in on my VTA DV so it makes the spring real hard? Just I think it could be passing, as when I took it off, the spring was real soft compared to the Recirc one I have.

Can I do any damage messing about with the spring etc?

Thanks

Chris,
I had problems refitting my OE after taking the dump valve off.
Two things- the subaru clip- which I lodged high up on the neck of the OE with long nose pliers, prior to sliding the neck into the rubber pipe.
The inside of the rubber pipe I lubed with a smidge of fairy liquid and also the neck of the OE. It then slid in quite well allowing me then to move the clip on to the pipe and then bolt the OE on to the intercooler.
Some say the clip should lock open but couldn't get it to do that, but you will need to keep the clip out of the way until the OE is in the pipe.

Thanks for the points.

It's not the clip which was a problem for me. It is a jubilee clip, so has maybe been changed.

My problem was, the hose just wouldn't reach to the 'outlet' of the OE DV. Two of us were trying for quite a while, and it just wouldn't fit!

Which is why I was just going to put up with the VTA until I get my FMIC on.

Will my engine kill itself if I screw the DV in too much?

Just my car seems to judder a lot on acceleration now.....giving it beans it's ok, but going slow it's not too good.
