thinking of decatting my 93 wrx import
does it actually make much difference tho? my cars standard apart from a 6k ecu, induction kit and cat back exhaust system.

quicker spool up , a remap would make the most of it though.
My 93 wrx has been decatted for a few years now and have had no problems (same spec as yours except i've a z4 ecu)

As above, pulls better, sounds better, BUT, and it's a BIG BUT now, it's becoming VERY difficult to get decatted cars through an MoT

Not a 93wrx (well it wasn't last year unless more rules have come into since then) being an import,not on the database etc etc

1993WRX will go through an MOT with no problems with a decat, but some MOT testers will not acknowledge this. Yopu'll need to print off the VOSA page and take it to them to check before they do the test.

Decat and chip (scoobyECU/ESL chip/ ebay chip) should give 280bhp which is very noticable.

I have red i'm sure wrong, but do imports have to be tested for emissions.

Early ones just have to pass a non cat test (this is valid up to 1995 or 1996, can't remember exactly) due to there being no exact match for them in the model table. After this they must pass a cat test. I can vouch for this, my brother has a 1994, decat and every year the MOT tries to fail it until the page in the VOSA manual is pointed out, then its passed.
