Default Smoke cant be good. Can it?

Had this problem for a short wile now, nobody has been successful i diagnosing the probem. Only seems to do it from cold and if not driven for a few days, so seems to me that there is oil collecting somewhere then burning when engine warms up. Anybody had similar symtoms or can advise me on where to look, as cant really see where the smoke is coming from. Oh yeah its a 98 classic. Many thanks Shep

A little more info is needed
What colour is the smoke, black, blue, white or sky blue pink??
Where is the smoke coming from, underbonnet or exhaust??
The more info you give the more you will get back

Fair point. Its black/grey smoke coming up from the offside of the engine bay so if your looking at the engine its on the left coming from right underneath from what i can tell.

went under the car sat to fit de cat up pipe, was when i went remove the pipe i saw my trouble, the part of the engine that sit directly above the up pipe has leaky gasket and is dripping on the up pipe hence the smoke not loosing mass amounts of oil which is nice, so nothing major to worry about just need the gasket n its done
