Decided to have a dig around in the inpreza to check some things. Took the cover off the ecu to see if it had been labelled up as to what kind of ECU/piggyback it had ,as its been remapped.
Only thing I could see was an old looking sticker with "royal motorsport" on it. ever heard of them ?
anyway. Is there anyway of plugging a laptop etc into the ecu to check what kind of software is on it ??
Going to get a remap soon and need to know whats already on it so I can tell the tuner.
its a 93 wrx import BTW.

If it has been chipped then it will be mounted/installed here:

Apart from a ESL Daughter Board this is as far as you can go, other option is to get a aftermarket ECU, see here:

This is a picture of the outside of the ECU

And one of the daughterboard
![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f360/KCRX/Photo0041.jpg)
can anyone enlighten me as to whether this is aftermarket or standard ?
if its standard then can anyone enlighten me as to how the car could be running over 1 bar of boost and how I dispatched a 300bhp scooby a mate owns with relative ease.
The only other mods I know the car has is a K&N filter , a de-cat ,and a group N exhaust. possibly a walbro pump but I'd need to check.
any help would be great. Need to know what I've got infront of me before I go spending any more money on it.

Standard ECU with aftermarket chip, not a 'daughter board' mate, will be simlar to this one Products
The daughter board is further down the page.![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
And heres the expected gains from such a chip![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Yeah no probs, I have the same car with same-ish mods inc chip
One thing I would advise is to get a AFR meter
(if not already fitted) to monitor your fuelling when on boost as you cannot verify the program on the chip
. A narrow band will suffice though some will argue you need an expensive wideband. If you run lean on boost you risk melting a piston, not good

Its got an AFR fitted too. Can see why its been fitted now. thought it was just a gimik
Was gonna remove it as its a pain in the a**e and it lights up like a christmas tree but I reckon I'll be leaving it in till I get a piggyback ecu or a new ecu fitted.
