Exclamation BEST HEADERS/UP-PIPE FOR 350/350 ON A 2.0L ???

As per title...

Are harvey's ported OEM ones, or these GT Spec ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA-STI-GT-SPEC-HEADERS_W0QQitemZ200322483891QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item200322483 891&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A 2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318, better - i.e. earlier spooling - for 350/350?

Also, please bear in mind that I still only have the v.1 WRX hydraulic heads on my rebuilt motor...

at 350/350 Ported Headers and matching up pipe are the way to go. With the GT Spec you'll loose low down spool and only really notice any benifits right at the top of the Rev range

been in this situation a while now, had a vf34 waiting to go on (fast spooler) and wanted headers - going for gt specs would have lost me spool but now going for a harvey turbo with ceramic coated housing + gt specs with full ceramic coating + with a higher power goal now.

some say you gain spool, some say you loose some - as a lot of people one here dont do theyre on work on their cars, i decided to sift through the BS and find out for myself.

As above .... many people many opinions, you should speak to the chap called Harvey, he does ported headers with matching up pipe for a good price and you don't really need gt specs untill u go 400 + bhp ....

Cheers for that guys - basically I couldn't remember which ones gained spool at the low to mid range. ... Harvey's it is then.

Which turbo are you opting for? What are your particular revised bhp/lb ft goals?

Mate, you are just like me at present. Like a kid in a sweet shop.

Also the MD rather than HS made me chuckle.

I've just brought a set of Lateral Performance headers. I couldn't justify the ceramic coated option so guess whos wrapping this weekend.

Trouble is.........I really hope I got the un-even headers rather than the even!!! What a burk I forgot to ask. and walked out with them.

The 16g turbo works really well with aftermarket headers. I've used Gruppes and GT Spec - the Gruppes has a better (smaller) bore size but the GT Spec are slightly better built. I would be tempted to ask Japspeed about theirs (specs) as they look very similar.

It's the little attention to detail like this which will have a big say in how likely you are to hit your figures.

There are good gains to be had with aftermarket headers at this power range.

You should ask your mapper what he thinks as he will be the one ultimately trying to give you the numbers you want.

you certainly don't need more than the standard up-pipe unless you are going over 500bhp. Just ask andyf

Thumbs up

Thanks bob - I'm sure I'll get appropriate ones fitted when I get the remap.

I suppose this is the reason why harvey's ported OEM ones are so popular - very cheap option but deliver the goods....

Does the exchange make sense now?

Lol. Because I asked you what turbo you were using and got the "" response from matey, I thought that your turbo could be some kind of secret, because of the "" - as in a lighthearted, jokingly, "Tut tut you shouldn't have asked wrighty that - it's top secret.", that's all.

But, I'm sure what matey meant, was that I was 'naughty' for inadvertently calling it an MD380, rather, than the correct HS380. At the time, I did not know what 2 letters preceded the '...380. Comprende?
