ive got a brand new TD05 18g fittined to my v2 sti. Just wondering what is the max boost this turbo can take? cheers

I think it will be more what your gearbox can cope with that will be the concern.

 

It's not really a question of what it can take, it's a question of what you should run given the car, it supporting mods and intended use. More boost does not invariably mean a better result; ideally you'll want to run the least boost possible to get the target figures.

The 18G will, most likely, eat a standard V2 gearbox before tuned to it's potential, put it that way!

 

Im not after what boost it should be set taking the mods and engine/gearbox into consideration as ive already had it set up and mapped. I would like to know the max boost level that turbo can take because i had a split actuator hose a while ago, and when i noticed it, was when the car hit 1.8bar! The avcr has been set to 1.5 max. Wondering if the actuators ****ed? Makes a funny noise on hard boost.

 

What makes a funny noise - the turbo ?

 

i think its coming from the turbo?

 

could have a loose hose or somthing like the turbo inlet hose at the bottom has maybe slipped off did you use new gaskets when fitting new turbo?
