Solaris vs Autronics

Solaris vs Autronics
Which is the better ecu for my car considering its a normal road and which ECU would be the most useable around the 600bhp mark ?? I like the idea I can have differnt maps but is it worth the swap just for that ????

i cant compare the 2 mate.ive just gone from an ecutek remap to a solaris on my sti8.was looking at different ecus, and after talking with scoobyclinic, decided to go for the solaris.well the difference is night and day.i cant coment on the autronics, but the solaris is a massive top level ecu, and would recomend it to anyone.

Steve, put it this way, Autronic is ok for Rods 850bhp cossie, this car is mapped & built by one of the best out there with Autronic Mark Shead of MA-DEVELOPMENTS..he,s done all my Autronic cars...AND won club class @ Time Attck with Kev Atkins Evo..

I picked up that on big injectors they are bad in the driveability stakes, regarding part throttle etc. Several EVO owners said mine would not run nicely on 1000cc+ injectors, when I was first looking to go that injector route. They were right until I changed ECU, which incidently was not an Autronic. Not sure if that was THE link between the issues.

Shaun, autronics is fine for me. When I 1st got it there was starting issues etc but Mark Shead sorted all that out I can't fault the autronics ECU thats why I want to know how much better a solaris ECU can be for me

Shaun, it was on noticing how well the hydra ecu controlled 1000cc injectors that 1st got me thinking.
Pete, Mark is a hell of a mapper and I was pleased to have the pleasure of meeting him when I 1st put autroinc in my car Rod tarry was there thast day when I met mark and I never thought at that time I would be pushing as high power as marks mapping route seemed scary at just 350bhp

Steve,
Yes mate, he,s a bloody good mapper, when i had my Tommi Mak mapped by him, i had to drive the car.. ok doesn,t sound too challenging, BUT have you seen those country lanes by Marks where he maps?? i shat myself having to drive FLATOUT whilst he sat along side me mapping.. was really funny cus he showed me on the laptop what he called scare lines.. basically where i was backing off the throttle...
He took me out in Kevs Evo that day too.. on a GT40Turbo..never again Steve...

I have no idea how yours drives at the moment but map switching on the fly between 8 set-ups is really useful - particularly for daily drivers like ours where at least one of the maps can be set up for 95 ron

i run autronic on mine, cold start was a complete bitch till andy at the clinic worked his magic, day to day its fine, hunts a bit on idle now and again when idle control solenoid picks a fight with the ecu but then sorts itself.
after speaking to a few people who have solairs and the guy who produces/maps them i'd have solaris over autronic anyday of the week, i'd have had it in mine on a solris if it was available at the time, o how i wish it was out 6 months earlier than it was lol.

My mate had a STi v.5 Type R and had it mapped by PH, while API-D was doing the peddling. Have you seen the roads around API's?! My mate - sitting in the back of his own car - said he had never been so scared in a car all his motoring career. He also noticed that D was nonchantly munching on an apple too, whilst casually mentioning, "Mark, I'd get your brakes seeing to if I was you..."

Shaun,
It sounds like you've got a lot od secondhand info on what the effect the ECU is actually having on the things. I have mapped many Autronic ECUs on all sorts of cars, and only one is anything like problematic, and that is a very strange affair where the stock ECU has to remain for the random autobox to work, and i've not rulled out some weirdness as a result. On the EVOs and Subaru's I've mapped it's not been a problem, and I've mapped a number running 1000cc injectors (my own included), again no problem.
That said I would still pick the solaris over an SM4 as it has a lot of features I like, especially for road cars where you just want to drive the car, and not worry about what the ECU is doing.
Steve,
Does this mean you're ready for those injectors now?
Paul

Paul,
Info was based on what some EVO owners had led me to believe...... I was certainly told by a couple of EVO owners to stay away from 1000+cc injectors (regardless of ECU) as they caused aweful running. I even had an argument with one EVO owner who refused to accept they could ever run right..... even after I had moved from OEM to Hydra and it certainly was running abosolutely fine.
Steve,
Get the flaming injectors in you *****!

I'd agree with Duncan - the 8 set up is very useful indeed. Mine is a daily driver and since Pat mapped it, I've had no probs whatsoever it - smooth as anything.
