hey any help will be much appreciated

a couple of weeks a go my car started making a knocking noise which i think is the big end bearing from reading on here and looking on you tube. but when it happened the car stalled then wouldnt start for around 20 mins.

since then i havnt driven it but started evry few days and left it running awhile, till this weekend was gonna bring it to a garage and it wudnt start it just ticks, it dosent tickover or even try it just ticks, sounds more electrical.

what is the noise the impreza makes when you fist turn the key 1 notch before starting???

its not the battery as my alarm, central locking, lights.... still works fine

It sounds as if your starter has jammed, possibly because your battery is low. To release it, try turning the engine over by using a socket on the crankshaft pulley. At the same time, make sure that the pulley bolt is not loose; this can sound like a bad big end, and also (because if the pulley is loose it will affect the ignition timing) can cause the engine to stall and run rough at idle.

thanks fujiyama, tryed it but no luck. crankshaft pulley wasnt loose either, wich i was kinda hoping on ....

 

any1 any other ideas???
