Default Boost cut with 2.5 conversion, Power FC controlling boost.

Hi guys.

Just bought a classic shape Sti.

Its had a 2.5 conversion, the car seems to be running fine. Comes on boost nicely. Also running a td05

The power FC has 4 boost settings, which apparently its been mapped to. On each boost setting it holds boost nicely till about 5k 5.5k. Then it starts to creep eventually being cut.

Preset boosts are.

0.7
0.9
1.0
1.2

I reckon the Power Fc is cutting the boost around 0.25bar over its preset amount.

Basically on full boost it feels like i hit a brick wall when this cut comes in. On the test drive it didnt hit the cut. So i have no idea what has happened.

What can these engines handle? Can i take the boost cut completed out and see if it just spikes slightly then settles back down again?

Obviously dont want to kill the car with too much boost.

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance

at 1.2 bar you won't kill the car, for some reason your getting more boost (colder weather?) than when it was setup, the only thing I can suggest is to run at 1bar until you can get the top end of the 1.2bar remapped.

It may be worth checking the hoses for any leaks etc that could be leaving the wastegate shut for 'longer'.

Its not just on the 1.2 bar setting its over boosting.

Its every boost setting.

It holds till 5.5k whatever boost setting, then starts to creep, then eventually it gets cut when it goes 0.25bar more than the preset power fc level.

What i was thinking was a problem with the wastegate, maybe its sticking. Or the Power FC is not that good at controlling boost. I had a wee look at pipes, but was not too sure which ones i should look.

They all look attached anyway!

So when checking for holes, should i just check each pipe by eye. Or is there a better way of doing it?

Lower the boost duty cycle a little on each setting.

Can you lower the boost duty on the Power FC?

On the power fc i turned the boost setting off, so i was running on actuator boost.

It did not hit boost cut obviously, the boost did not hold either.

I would have expected it to go to 0.8 and stay there if the problem was with the power fc.

This time the boost just kept increasing it did not hold at any point just kept increasing, at the top of the rev range it hit 1.2 bar ish.

Dont know if that helps at all!
