Default Recommendations for air filter element (preferably from a shop near Nottingham!)

Hi

I'm looking for a filter element for the standard airbox with decent sound and performance without spending too much money for MY97 UK car with small tweaks (240 bhp). Preferably also recommendation for local stockist near Nottingham as I'm fed up with mail order!

I've read various opinions here about what is best, and the dangers of oiled filters, so I'm unsure. At the moment I have whatever API put on with my new engine 30k ago, it is now very dirty and although maybe theoretically cleanable I think a new one would be better. It was pretty good for sound when new, I wouldn't mind another but don't know what make it is - not labelled, blue element and black rubber surround...?

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Aaron

Thanks very much for those. Looks like TSL have the STI filter, any good?

Why a depressing phone call?

Any comments on the oil issue for MY97 car? Is K&N / green best avoided?

The Blitz Panel filter is blue with black surround too...

... how can you be so sure?... unless the blitz one has blitz written on it and the Simota one seems brandless...

...because he supplied the original in Aaron's car, and knows what brands of filter he stocks?

As Splitpin says; We know what we fit. We fit Simota, we don't stock Blitz.

Thanks David, I've been meaning to call you and ask but just not had a chance during the day, too busy!

What are your hours tomorrow, I might just be down that way I could pick one up (mail order = more cost, more delays and having to collect from courier depot / post office!)

Nathan is here alone and will be available from 08.30 until 12 sharp. 12-01 and you'll be all alone.

He'll sort you out.

Good Luck David
