2003 WRX Sports Wagon Sound System
Morning all.
I have had my 2003 Impreza WRX Sport Wagon for 2 weeks and I absolutely love it. Amazing drive. My only issue is the sound system. It has like a 2 size unit with a 1 slot CD and tape deck, two speakers in the front door, 2 teeters in the front door and two speakers in the rear doors. My last car had a really good built in sound system but i've been in vans that have a better sound system than this. Are they all this terrible or did the previous owner just blow the speakers or something? Its absolutely terrible.
I'm just looking for the most cost efficient way of sorting this out? Has anyone come accross this? I imagine its the speakers. As soon as a tiny bit of bass comes on it sounds like a kid trying to blow out his first candle. I obviously dont want to spend too much, but it definately needs dealt with.
Cheers,
Glassy

hi glassy
just got the same wagon and found exactly the same problem so its not just you, you wil also find a loads of posts on here saying exactly the same so I thinks its a common complaint. I have opted for a basic speaker upgrade (I dont want anything spectacular - just a nice sound) and went for a pioneer set from ebay (according to the seller - its a subaru speaker upgrade so hopefully there should be no problems with fitting etc)
Found this really good instruction on removing the door cards, http:\\users.sisna.com/ignatius/subaru/mods/index.html
So hopefully, I am going to have a go at it the weekend.
If this doesnt sort the prob (think it will be enough for me) then the next step isa new Head unit
good luck with yours

Its the head unit that you need chaps, the standard head unit with the best speakers koney could buy wouldn't make much difference but if you upgrade your headunit, even with the standard speakers it will sound completely different. Just make sure you get one with at least 4x40 watt output. A nice small amp will make a big differenc to, you can pick one up vcheap. paul
