phone said company and they said they will out another unit. but my mechanic is not going to change another gearbox for nothing, IS there anything i can do???

You have bough from a trader, that is what is important as the trader has legal obligations and you have statutory rights. Basically, if the gearbox is not fit for purpose then you can expect a free of charge replacement or repair.
I could drum up lots of trade for my sister as this is her area, but she is overworked at the moment, so these people are worth a try for free advice![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
