Default Help Airlock Or Not!

Hello my cars a 2002 wrx.

The problems i have is it over heats (the temp needle goes into the red) This happens after i have driven quickley.

It will be fine if i keep reving it high but when i then stay off boast or stop at the lights it will over heat. But if i keep revving it at the lights it wont happen

What ive noticed after is the reserve water tank will be full and the water will be bubbling.

The fan works. Also when i rev the car even when cold you can hear water moving about behind the dash, like it's going to come out of the vents.

The no oil or gunge in the water and the performance is the same.

Whats the best way to bleed the system if it is a airlock. ive tried it once but the above problems still here.

Sorry for the long post.. Thanks

sounds like bhg to me but to eliminate best take it to a garage and have a sniffer test done could also be faulty water pump, thermostat or a blocked rad.

If it is a airlock shouldn't it be doing it when just driving slowly? Whats the best way to bleed the system? Thanks

I hate saying it, but I had a very similar problem on mine, after about 20 miles hard driving the temp gauge would start to rise rapidly, and I couldn't get any hot air from the vents. Like you I didn't have any gunk in the water, and i wasn't loosing any oil or anything obvious. I suspected an airlock too, but in my case it was a head gasket failure. Hope its not the same for you, but in my case I had extended warranty, so not sure how much it would cost without it.

Thanks for the replies.

The engine also shakes alot when idling. (The revs are fine). Could a headgasket failure cause the engine to shake? whats the proper name for the test so i can ask my local garage to do one. Thanks

UPDATE!

Well it turned out to be the headgasket and the car is not over heating know.

I have been getting another problem since the car has been fixed (did happen once or twice before the headgasket was fixed).

My CEL light will flash when i acclerate in 4th gear from say 45 to 80. When i get to 80 the light will start to flash then go away. But yesterday the light stayed on, so i had the codes read. There where four codes. which where all misfire codes 1 for each cilinder.

I have tested it a number of times and it only happens in 4th gear.

Im thinking it is spark releated but what could it be becuase it only does it in 4th gear.

Thanks
