Question temperature gauge is in red

i've got a subaru impreza, an i noticed that my temperature gauge keeps going into red.
I only drive it for bowt 10 mins with just cruising and it does it.
What could this be????
I've checked and there doesn't seem to be any leaks and theres no other things happening except the temp gauge.

Help!!

first thing - dont drive it when it hits the top of the gauge. You can cause damage to the engine by overheating it.

Possibilities are:
- Airlock in the coolant system
- Blocked or slightly leaking rad
- Knackered thermostat
- Headgasket Failure

Do your heaters still blow hot?
Is the Rad hot all over when it reaches temp?
Check the side tanks on the rad - these split/crack and cause overheating problems
Have you got coolant coming from the expansion bottle by the battery?

Or waterpump failure?

As above - don't drive it in the red as if you haven't got headgasket failure already then you will do shortly.
