Default Bonnet vents

why have the bonnet vents on pre faclifted classics got plates on the bottom and not 'open'?

On my facelift classic they have plates on, the person beore you might have taken them ofF?

no mine's got the plates on too. just wonderd why subaru botherd to put 2 vents in a bonnet then block em off with plates, whats's the point?

I always wondered the same thing? thought I'd sound stupid if I'd ask, glad I'm not alone with this one! can they be removed/do they need to be there?????

The vents are there for homologation puposes, the plates are removed when the cars are turned into rally cars, as they produce a lot more underbonnet heat that needs to be gotten rid of.

Interesting thread, I had a 95 WRX about 5 yrs ago, removed the vents and backplate - took out all the slats except the two middle(ish) ones, did some tidying up and touch up as removing the slats left angled "lump" where the slats were joined to the sides of the grill, they looked like 22b vents from a distance until you got close and could see that the single big slat was in fact the 2 small mid ones from a standard grill - fitted black motorsport mesh behind the grill and secured it with the screws that held the backplate on, ran it with no incident for years.....also had K7N IK fitted too...
