Default Whats up with my air intake???

first off, this is probably a daft question but i have zero knowledge on the subject:

i took my air filter out this morning for a clean.

i was surprised to find a slimmer long tube sticking out of the bottom of the thick tube... this slim tube has a small hole in the end of it.

what does it do?

what is the hole there for?

should anything be done to it (make hole bigger or remove altogether)?

It's called a resinator i think, used to reduce inlet noise and improve flow due to shock wave's created by the induction of air.

They Are as mentioned resonators.
Like Spark Said "used to reduce inlet noise and improve flow due to shock wave's created by the induction of air"

The Small tube coming down out the bottom with hole in end is to get rid of any build up of dirt/Condensation.

So, my advise would be leave well alone, Firstly, as its important that its there, and secondly, removing it would not make a difference in performance, or anything of the likes. If anything, air flow would be effected, and you would have reduction in performance possibly.

Hope this helps

Peter
