I had a noise coming from the left which drove me mad
I eventually took the car for a spin with someone in the passenger seat who (after a long time) traced it to a rattling passenger grab handle !!
Have you tried finding the noise with someone else in the car ?
Cheers
Shaun

nick it could be your heater motor making the noise or does it do it without heater on and carl could be your dash clocks themselves buzzing the only way is check i.e nick remove glovebox and get in for a better look and carl take out your speedo to see if the noise is behind there i have a buzzing noise also but only when my heater is on and my car has a toad alarm no noises behind dash though.

It's easy to take the glovebox out and expose the heating controls. You need to do this to clean our the air filter anyway. I cleaned the filter, wiggled all the motors/parts and put the glovebox back in - the noise went away for around 3 months - but it's back now.
I asked at a Subaru dealer what the price for a replacement motor was but you can't buy them separately - it's the whole heater system - which was around £350 for the part alone.
My recommendation is to take the glovebox out (just screws), have a good look around, clean the filter, see if you can tell where the source of the sound is coming from, have a wiggle of the connectors and see if that helps.
Outside of that it's getting a second hand unit from a breakers or pay the dealer prices for a new one- ouch.
I've just got used to living with the noise
Richard.

I had this on my old 2001 bugeye. Was annoying me to hell.
I don't know if my 2002 STi does it or not due to the RCM Team Ice system and MD321T noises.
The filter that is located behind the glove box. Is this the normal air-con/heater filter? If so my take my filter out and replace it.
