Sounds like the IC is sat too low mate. You haven't got the L shaped brackets at the top of the IC upside down have you?
My mate has just fitted a Hybrid, and his bars at the bottom were horizontal, and not on an angle at all.

i fitted my hybrid terribly! cut the crossmember out as it seemed impossible to fit, then tryed using the 2 bars and attatching them to the car- it sat at a right funny angle. i hacked and hammered my car and basically now its that tight, its only supported by one bar, and the other one is bent on the garage floor lol!

Hey there mate, I have a hybrid on my classic
Not sure if you are s'posed to do this but I used my bench vice and a rubber mallet to put 2 bends in the bottom bars to create a sort of flat z shape
If that does not make sense then I will take some pics when I get home after work

Darren is fitting these all the time so he will know both the problem and solution.
It sounds very much like a fitting issue but if you give him a ring on Tuesday morning I am sure he will talk through the problem with you and point a way to the solution.
While I have come across some people with problems getting the GDB pipework high enough this has never been an issue I can remember on the Classic installations. 01325 480678 after 9am by which time the morning rush should be under control.
