Default Thermal sensor??? HELP!

Can anyone shed any light on the sensor located in the impreza downpipe?

My car is a 94 WRX import and I am currently having a de-cat fitted along with may other things

My mate who is doing the work said that he was unable to remove what he thought was the lamda sensor from the old (cat) downpipe, so ordered a new one from subaru which didnt fit!

He telephoned subaru and they told him that the sensor is infact a thermal sensor and these are only fitted to import models. They can get the part but there's a 2 week waiting list!..I'm a bit gutted as I work away from home and I'm gagging to get behind the wheel of the scoob when I get back tommorow

Can anyone point me in the direction of a company who can supply these relatively quickly?

Sorry for the long winded post and thanks in advance!

the sensor is the cat on fire sensor and is not needed when you fit a decat, just simply unplug a tie out the way the plug for it

I see, thanks for quick reply!

My de-cat has 2 points for a sensor...the guy at the shop gave me a plug and said i'd only need the 1

Will it not affect the ECU if I run without the sensor?

i believe the sensor only activates when it gets to hot. So if its tied outside the exhaust its never gonna get to hot and so never be activated.

No worries
