Default Induction pipe for MAFless set up?

I've seen some people running large bore silicone hoses to replace the black plastic pipe (and MAF) that runs between the filter and the turbo inlet pipe, has anyone got any idea where I can get one from please? I'm going to a mafless set-up and although its not essential it looks a damn sight better and wil probably aid flow a little.

cheers
Andy.

I bought mine from Viper performance. It was £45 from their stand at Japfest, it`s red which seems to be more expensive than the blue ones.

Still almost half the price of the Samco ones (around £70/£80).

No worries, I`ve just posted a new thread in the technical section which has a picture of the pipe fitted.

You need an aftermartket ECU that doesn't require a MAF. I believe that the Simtek allows you to loose the MAF

Correct. The Simtek and some others run MAP so no MAF sensor so you ditch the MAF tube/body and that frees up space to make a good induction system.
Always use the biggest filter you can get in the space available.
Until you get to big power the gains from MAF less are probably not signifigant but you can improve the inlet tract when you don't have the consideration of the MAF tube which on its own can be a power limitting if it is a small diameter one.

No, I`m sure the Apexi ECU requires the MAF to be kept in the setup.

Probably OK for a little over 450 bhp, not much more.

harvey, if that huge K&N is good for 'only' up to 450bhp, then what the hell are people running for 450-600, or more?! What's available?

Lots of people are running air filters that start to become a restriction before their current power output and I have proven this on many occasions. The car can still make power but with a bigger filter and remap it can make more power. I standardise on K+N filters because they have a Technical department and all sorts of information available when you know the questions to ask.
