Default Ecu resistor cut.

Got a spare ECU that has been chipped by Polar performance to put in my car this weekend. The Spare ECU has come with two wires connected to the "J1" resistor and out of the box about a meter long. I am not sure why this is like this? Any ideas please.

I you are running on the chip and you connect the ristor back up again would the car revert back to the standard settings? Maybe he used it for MOT time?
