Default Air con belt

Folks, I'm heading to car show today and my air con belt has started making a lot of noise. Sprayed in round it with WD40 but the noise still comes back after a few miles.

Is it safe to remove the belt and drive as I obviously wont be able to get a new belt on a Sunday?

Probably could...but I think the noise is coming from the tesioner not the belt. Maybe a bearing?
would it do any harm running it with no belt connected for a day does anyone know?
