hey just wondering if any1 can tell me life expectency of the td04 turbos? i hav a bug wrx wiv just 80k on the clock n iv recently noticed when im leting her cool down blue smoke out the exhaust... giv it a little rev n it clears... iv never noticed it smoke wile driving n it dosnt do it all the time and still runs fine and it does use a little bit of oil... just wondering if it could b the oil seals in the turbo...
only seems to do it when its hot and on tickover....

Blue smoke could be piston oil control rings wearing.
But it could be turbo oil seals or its thrust bearing - although very hot oil would normally be predominantly white (with perhaps a slight blue tinge to it).
Or possibly valve guides.

If it's not much then prob too early to tell. if it is turbo and you like your boost, then it'll fail sooner rather than later.
Pull off the intake to the turbo compressor nozzle. Is there 'lots' of wet oil, or the normal thin film residue?...
