It depends really on your final plans for the car, I'm currently running an Apexi Power FC which in all fairness for the money is a great bit of kit and would easily support 400bhp.

In terms of the best ecu, others may disagree but the Hydra Nemesis certainly does the job and features active knock control.

guess it depends on your budget and if you want to run things like anti lag or launch control. if you want a mafless car etc
apexi is good but won't offer any of the above.
as mentioned hydra (1 internal map), simtek (2 internal maps) and solaris (7 internal maps i think) all do.

have a chat with whoever is doing the work on your car or a mapper for the best advise.

i'm running over 400bhp and went for the simtek, good price and gave all of the above.

Hydra has more than a single map capability, I know, because I can flip between two boost maps, two fuel trim maps and two ignition maps... all independantly switchable, but can work in combination via my switch panel. It also has Anti-Lag, Launch Control, active knock control (as mentioned) and flat shifting capabilities.

Have no idea if it is the best, but it certainly does the trick.

Yep Hydra has

Standard Map - Timing and Fuel
Anti Lag Trim - Timing and Fuel (can be anything does not need to be ALS)
Alternate Trim - Timing and Fuel (Usually for race fuel but again can be anything)

when you say lot's of work to the engine lets hope you mean forged pistons / rods and acl bearings and a few extra's first with a good gearbox to be running over 400bhp in a catalunya as at some point it will go pop and fast

trust me i have been there

as for ecu apexi power fc is fine or a simtek for the extra's as said above

This is very true, may be an idea to pick who you want to map the car then they will be able to advise the best ECU for your needs
