strange engine light problem?
hi peeps
can anyone shed some light on my problem please. had the car sitting stationary last week while engine running and the engine light came on. so took car to garage to get checked out. car was driving fine all way there. had it hooked up to comp. and came back all 4 cilinders had mis-fired. now i would have thought if this would have happened then i would notice a loss in power of some kind, but car was running great. boosting fine and good acceleration. bloke at garage wiped the engine light of and said if it happened again to bring it back in. then this sunday it happened again, again while car was stationery. have drove the car everyday till today and car has felt normal, so could the on board comp be playin up? anyway took to garage today and came back with same prob. so is goin into garage on wednesday.
has anyone else had this sort of prob or could shed some light as to wot it might be

It's unlikely to be the ECU itself playing up. They tend to work either 100% perfectly or fail completely.
It's far more likely to be something under the bonnet - probably something electrical, coilpacks or a connector ingesting water maybe. Fingers crossed the garage will notice something obvious at first look.

cheers for the info guys. the garage was to busy, so im having to wait till next week. its still under warrenty with the garage i brought it from. so ive been made to wait. only good thing is its not goin to cost me. get the feelin if i was payin and was'nt under warrenty they would have made time to check it instead of making me wait another week. only good thing is light has'nt come back on yet.
