Default tmic

hello all.
Can anyone tell me the difference between my99 uk turbo tmic and a sti tmic?

Am i right in thinking the sti one will preform better and handle more bhp?

When i finaly put my td05 on i will need to upgrade but ive been told that a fmic wont boost as fast or be as responsive as a sti tmic.

Will intake temperture be a lot lower with a fmic or not worth the hassle.

Im just trying to wiegh up what would be my best option

Any advice is helpful please

STi8 TMIC is what you'll need.

You might not hit 350bhp but makes for a quick car

It's best to get the facts straight before attempting to advise people.

STi8 TMIC fits a MY99/00 just fine. You need to make provisions for Y-pipe, d/v, brackets and undertray (off the top of my head.

Have a search, loads on here. Early classics are harder to fit and later ones easier.

hard its a right pain the slightly smaller sti6 will do the job with less hastle. are i think its the sti8 cant be fitted to a version 1!! or 2!! as there is less space would this ring true

...Which is significant given that the OP has an MY99. STi8 ICs go in these quite comfortably. Can be trickier fitting one in next to a strutbrace, but that's a minor issue. Your original comment about them simply not fitting just ain't correct.

In this context your suggestion that the OP go for an STi 5/6 IC is bad advice, given that even a newage WRX IC will fit and do a better job for far less money. The newage STi IC is the optimal choice though.

You mean the cruddy moulded plastic y-pipe? It probably will but why on earth would you want to try it? They are badly designed from a flow point of view and prone to splitting, especially if boost is raised so the first thing to do with them if modifying is to replace with something better.

I've just sold an sti8 tmic, as i thought it might fit my V2 classic, but there's no way it was going to fit! Even cutting the t/b and tmic exit, it will never go in. You can fit a later inlet manifold, but thats loads of hassle.
I've seen quite a few fitted to V3 and newer.
Fitting the sti8 to later classics involves cutting the clutch reservoir, or fitting a newage angled one, plus the dv relocation, pipework fettle etc.
These may help:

That isn't the standard MY99 part, sounds more like the PPP uprated replacement. And yes, it should fit on an STI8 IC.
